Roy Smith - Biography Print E-mail

roy_headshot.jpgRoy Smith brings a variety of ideas and techniques to the creative process. Majoring in fine arts in high school and collge, Roy worked with media such as oils and acrylics to develop his expression during the social and spiritual revolutions of the 60's and 70's. Furthering his education in science and technology in the 80's, he joined the computer revolution and now works and an aerospace engineer. His paintings reflect a synergism of ideas from science, depth psychology, and mystical thought.

Roy started working with Rassouli in 2006 to develop his own distinctive style. His brushwork combines dry brush, wet in wet, impasto, glazes, etc. Features of his art include the use of forms, colors and rhythmnic modalities to create inner landscapes of the spirit. Roy's work often shows evokes the spiritual world bridging into the material world, dream into reality, the finite into the infinite.

Roy is also a wildlife conservationist who runs a nature refuge in Costa Rica, where he reforested with native tree species to reduce CO2 levels.
